Support Our Veterans
The 7th Annual Catholic Health Services Suffolk County Marathon to Support Our Veterans will run this October 24th, 2021, hosted by Catholic Health and Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone
The parent company of Optimum, Altice USA, is a proud supporter of the Catholic Health Suffolk County Marathon. In previous years, the event has drawn approximately 4,000 attendees with the race in 2019 including over 2,300 runners from 21 states and eight countries.
The race will consist of a 1K Kids Run, 5k Run/Walk, 10k Run/Walk, 13.1Mile Half Marathon and a 26.2 Mile Marathon. All of the races this year will be run on a new course, The 2021 race will start in Babylon Village, Run East on Montauk Hwy, before running over the Great South Bay towards Captree. Athletes will then run back over the bridges and finish in Gardiner County Park, in Bay Shore. For full marathon runners the race is a Boston Marathon qualifier (for the 2022 Boston Marathon).
Immediately following the race is the Freedom Fest, an outdoor festival featuring live music and entertainment, arts and crafts, local artisans and businesses, children’s activities, local food, and craft beer.
Additionally, the Suffolk County Veterans Runs Series (SCVRS) offers 9 runs in honor of our veterans. The SCVRS invites you to Run, Walk and Support the veterans within your community!
The Suffolk County Veterans Runs Series (SCVRS) takes place in various times and locations throughout Suffolk County, including East Northport, Lake Ronkonkoma, East Islip, Lindenhurst, Sag Harbor and more. The SCVRS serves as an opportunity for local veterans and residents to participate in local races and walks, including the Suffolk County Marathon & Half Marathon while also helping to raise additional funds for local veteran service groups.
